BBQ Chicken

I've had this recipe for grilled BBQ chicken for too many years to count.
It sure is a family favorite... at least my hubby & kids think it's the best.

Best BBQ Chicken Recipe is Gluten Free, just omit the serving of bread.
As for being really the best? My family claims it is!

Okay, I will concede to it... at least... being the
"Easiest" Homemade BBQ Sauce made within mere minutes!

Best BBQ Chicken

4 servings

4 chicken breasts, see note* (BONE-IN, skinless and cut in half)
1/2 cup ketchup
2-3 Tbsp minced onion (or 1 Tbsp dry onion flakes)
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp Worcestershire
1 Tbsp brown sugar (1 Tbsp WLD and a drop of molasses)
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp salt, or to taste

*Note: When substituting with thighs and drumsticks, brush with butter and microwave chicken pieces on Med-High (level 7) for 2-3 minutes, rotate and flip raw edges out, and repeat 2-3 minutes more before grilling.

Grilling: Grill chicken pieces on all sides, creating grill marks. Meanwhile, combine the sauce ingredients in a bowl to spoon over the grilled chicken. Continue to cook with the sauce on. Test the centers for doneness, you want these to be juicy, but barely not much pink inside. Remove the chicken to a serving plate and tent with foil until serving time; it will continue to cook as it rests.

(Tips & Techniques…)

Perfect Marks: A hot grill is critical, oil the rack and let it heat up some more. For perfect grill marks, place breasts at a 45-degree angle on the grill. Once has seared, rotate 90-degrees counter-clockwise. When one side is perfectly grilled, flip and repeat.

BBQ Sauce: To keep the sauce from burning, don’t add any… until meat is well seared.
