Enchilada Sauce - Quick & Easy!

Don't have any canned Enchilada Sauce on hand? No worry... Here's a quick & easy (if not?) even better substitute!

Related Recipe: Enchilada Chicken Chowder, use ingredients below in place of canned enchilada sauce. You'll be sooo glad you did! Both recipes require a lot of ingredients, but they are GREAT food storage items to have on hand at all times!

Enchilada Sauce - Quick & Easy!
Makes: Enough sauce for 6-8 enchiladas

Sauce Ingredients:1 (10.75 or 15-oz) can tomato puree, not tomato sauce
2 Tbsp canned green chilies
1/2 Tbsp lemon juice
1/2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp pickled jalapenos, minced

Seasoning Ingredients:1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp table salt
1/8 tsp turmeric* (opt, recommended)

Combine the sauce and seasonings for a quick & easy (if not better) flavored enchilada sauce.

Tips & Techniques...
Double the recipe, for a large (29-oz), can tomato puree.
Could use freshly chopped jalapeno, but the bottled sort is handy!
Though optional, turmeric is the (secret) "classic color".
Turmeric also colors rice rather nicely too.
