Guacamole: The Best

Our dear friend David shared with me this recipe for the best Guacamole; everyone just loves it!

The Best Guacamole

4 large Hass avocados, cut into chunks
1/2 red onion, finely diced
1 jalapeno, seeded
1 fresh lime, zested and juiced
2 Tbsp cilantro, minced
1/2 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper, freshly cracked

Prepare avocados into chunks, squeeze half the lime juice over the avocados and toss to coat. Add red onion, jalapeno and lime zest. Stir in the cilantro, cumin and garlic powder, while mashing the avocado, still leaving some chunks. Add more lime juice, and season with salt and pepper, adjusting amounts for your taste.

To Ripen: If your avocado's not yet ripe enough, to hasten ripening (either) enclose in a paper sack, or plop in a covered canister of the flour for a few days. Don't forget it!

Ripeness Test: Try flicking off the avocado's stem end; if it falls off easily, it is ripe.
